The Alliance conducts workshops for K-12 public and private school teachers. These workshops are specifically designed to show linkages among the 4Es (energy, environment, economics, education). Topics include energy, solid waste management, biodiversity and water resources.
Children's Language Arts & Science Project (CLASP) uses language
arts as a vehicle to enhance energy education by providing language-rich energy
activities and hands-on materials. CLASP is aimed at teachers of grades K, 1,
2, and 3. Each teacher receives two copies of our award-winning CD-ROM for primary
grades.
Energy: It's Elementary is an interdisciplinary environmental education
program that focuses on energy-related environmental issues. Teachers of grades
3, 4, and 5 attend a two-day workshop where they learn to use the instructional
materials and the program's Energy Tool Kit. This tool kit contains over $100
worth of the supplies needed to conduct the experiments. The participants construct
equipment and conduct the actual experiments they can do with their students.
All activities integrate science and mathematics and include extensions for
students to do at home or during after school programs.
Energy Bridges to Science, Technology and Society is designed for teams
of middle school science and social studies teachers. Each team receives an
Energy Tool Kit containing lab equipment, a solar oven for experiments (and
for baking), a lab pack (2) of our award-winning Energy & Environmental
Issues CD-ROM, and other items that help teachers teach about energy and energy-related
environmental issues.
